Welcome to my website!

My name is Emily - the woman behind Elemental SoundWorks.

My entire life I've always been in love with music. Starting when I could barely talk and continuing to now. My musical journey began at a young age, with singing first and then beginning piano lessons at age 6.

Though singing was my main interest, I always found that the music that spoke the most to me was instrumental - namely, music in film from composers like James Horner and John Williams as well as from musical artists like Lindsey Stirling and Two Steps From Hell.

I had a strong passion for this type of music, but I also had dreams of becoming an opera singer. I sang as much and as often as I could and eventually studied and received a bachelor's degree in vocal performance.

Upon graduating, I discovered that my dreams lay elsewhere. I was unsure where, but I knew it still needed to be music one way or another.

In 2020, when my job was moved online, I began exploring hobbies - one of which was composition. That was when I started my YouTube channel, Elemental SoundWorks.

I came up with the logo, the name, and the theme: instrumental film music. All songs were created in Musescore, which certainly had its limitations in terms of sound quality among other things, but I just simply enjoyed doing it.

One and half years passed, and I found myself in a 9 to 5 job that I despised. It really did not last long before I quit. I felt like I had failed in that moment. I had no idea where my life was going - I had no direction.

And as awful as that time in my life felt, it also propelled me to where I am now with this channel, doing something that I absolutely love.

I came back to my music channel with a vengeance: to finally do something that I enjoyed on my own terms. I bought better equipment, starting learning a DAW, and the rest is history, as they say.

At the time, I was doing it for myself with a small hope that it might amount to something more. There were times when I thought "I should probably find a career elsewhere and give this up" - and I honestly almost did.

Then suddenly come June 2022, and thing were starting to really pick up, after months of dedication and focus. Suddenly, things became real in that moment: this really was something I could do.

It is crazy to think that in January 2022 I was already on the cusp of something I couldn't even fathom...that I could actually have fans that valued my music and enjoyed watching my videos! And to think that only 1 year later, my channel would be nearing 15k subscribers.

At the end of the day, my main goal has always been to create music that makes listeners feel something or that sparks creativity within them. Because the music that always spoke to me was those instrumental tracks.

And to this day, even as a singer, I feel that it is wordless music that can convey the deepest of feelings.

And so to end, if you are a composer or in any creative field, my advice would be to never give up on your dreams. Because you never know where this road might take you. I certainly didn't!

And if you are a listener, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me. Without you, I wouldn't be here doing what I love.
